Our Job Process

So you've chosen your granite! Now what?

It is time to begin the production process. This includes templating, fabrication, tear out, and installation. Here is what to expect.

Step One- Gather Project Information:

Before we come to template your granite, we will need your final selections. This includes:

  • 1. Sink type: drop-in or undermount.
  • 2. Faucet: make, model, and placement location.
  • 3. Cooktop/Range: make and model, cutout dimensions, and downdraft (when applicable).
  • 4. Granite edge preference.

Step Two- Template:

From your home, we will make a pattern of your cabinets. Please be sure your countertops are cleared and keep the work area open. This allows us to template efficiently and keeps your personal items free from dust or damage. Templating usually takes just a couple of hours.

During this phase:

All sinks, cooktops, and faucets are checked for compatibility and fit. Cabinets are thoroughly assessed, and any needed adjustments are noted. Structural matters such as overhang and support are taken into account. All necessary units will be dropped into place for confirmation of fit. We will also make recommendations on your granite's seam placement.

At the conclusion of our visit, we will speak with you about any modifications that will be needed prior to installation. Finally, any undermounted sinks will be taken back to the shop.

Please Note: Since undermounted sinks will be mounted beneath your stone, please do not plumb in or use the sink in any way for at least 12 hours prior to our visit. Please keep this in mind when scheduling your plumber to reconnect the water and drain.

Step Three- Fabrication:

Before this stage, we encourage you to approve your granite slabs. There is a "Post Template Checklist" for you to review and sign before we modify your stone. We will keep you posted on any necessary changes to this checklist before they are implemented. For instance, if your quote drawing differs from your actual job, we will inform you and adjust the price accordingly.

Step Four- Tear Out:

On the day of your countertop installation, we will tear out and remove your existing countertops, when necessary. This requires us to disconnect your plumbing, so remember not to use your dishwasher until your plumber has reconnected the water.

Step Five- Installation:

Installation is almost a full day project. Prior to our arrival, we ask that you again clear the work area, including a path for the installers to carry the granite. Any final cutouts will be made at this stage. Our installers are equipped to catch much of the resulting debris, however, some dust is inevitable. To allow access for installation and to keep your cabinets and their contents as clean as possible, please remove the drawers and all items from these areas. As a final step, if your granite is not resin coated, it will now be sealed.

Step Six- Job Completion:

Since we value your complete satisfaction, your inspection and final approval is very important. The lead installer will thoroughly review the installation with you. He will answer any questions or concerns you may have. Once you are satisfied, your final payment will be requested.
